Time: 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (You may want to arrive a bit early to set up your laptop. An extension cord is also helpful to ensure your power supply can connect to an electrical outlet.)

Workshop fee:

  • Conference special for one person is $125* (regular workshop fee is $297)
  • If you are working with a spouse or writing partner on the same book, the fee is $145.
  • For a married couple working on separate books, $195.

*Note: This workshop has saved authors thousands of dollars in editing fees. You will easily gain back this investment. However, if you are unable to afford this fee, please indicate the amount you can afford in the Comments section at the bottom of the registration form. We will do everything we can to make it possible for you to attend, but also want you to make an investment in the message God has given to you.

Since 1995, David has worked with authors such as James Goll, Patricia King, Ed Silvoso, Joan Hunter, Mickey Robinson, Chris DuPré, Sean Feucht, Brent Lokker, Cindy McGill, Jake Hamilton, and other Christian leaders to prepare, write, and share with others what God has given to them. He is the author of Write Your Book: Your Step-by-Step Guide to Write and Publish a Great Book. Every paid workshop participant will receive a copy.

Workshop Details

Every paid workshop participant will receive a copy of David Sluka’s  book Write Your Book: Your Step-by-Step Guide to Write and Publish a Great Nonfiction Book.

3d transparentParticipants will leave with an organized, focused strategy and structure for their book with corresponding content that will include:

  • A marketable book title and subtitle
  • Creative chapter titles
  • A captivating sound bite summary for each chapter
  • Main points that summarize the full content for each chapter (these also serve as headers throughout each chapter to divide your content into bize-sized, readable sections)
  • Preface and/or Introduction*
  • One chapter*

*Note: How much is completed will vary by author.

Additional topics that will be discussed include:

  • The fastest way to write your book
  • Other parts of the book creation process such as cover design, interior design and typesetting
  • Book production and packaging (ebooks, print on demand, short and long-run printing)
  • Book proposals (this workshop helps you to complete a significant portion of book proposal content)
  • Next steps to publishing your book with a traditional publisher or self-publishing your book
  • Answers to questions you may have

laptopWhat to Bring

  • Laptop (remember the power cord and an extension cord). Trying to write with a pen a paper during this workshop is very challenging, but doable if that’s all you have. Come prepared to write about 75 percent of the workshop.
  • Workshop pre-work: This workshop is to help you focus, organize, and write a message you already have. It is not to help you determine what message you may want to write about. Please come with a working title and subtitle for the book you want to focus on during this workshop. Read my post 8 Questions to Help You Choose What to Write About for Your Book for help determining what you want to write about.
  • After registering and paying for the workshop, within about 24 hours you will receive a link to a Word document with 9 Questions for Authors or download it now. Completing this worksheet is not mandatory, but will be extremely helpful.

Other Important Information

  • Method of payment is cash or check the day of the workshop. If debit/credit is needed, please make that note in the Comments section on the registration form below and you will be sent an invoice to be paid before the workshop.
  • Dress casually and comfortably.
  • Bring your own lunch (and snacks if you want) or it can be purchased at a nearby restaurant. If you are a part of the pastors and leaders’ lunch at the conference, you will be dismissed from the workshop at 1:00 p.m. and will join us again about 3 p.m. Important: This lunch requires separate registration here.
  • For a husband-wife team or two people writing one book together, you will be charged for just one person with an additional $15 for the second person. Be sure to put your writing partner’s name in the Spouse or Writing Partner section in the registration form.
  • This workshop is to help you write a book from scratch. Bring a working title and subtitle and we’ll help you do the rest. If you’ve started to write a book, this workshop will also help you to make sure you’re on the right track and complete your book certain it will hit the mark with your audience.
